Crystals are some of our most versatile of magick tools. From spellwork to physical and emotional healing, personal adornment to home décor, crystals or gem stones are truly gifts of the Earth. I’ve spent considerable time studying and using crystals, and below, I’ve compiled a list of my favorites and their correspondences. There are a number of publications available that discuss crystals in greater detail, and I encourage you to explore them. For this issue, let’s focus on what I consider to be the top 25 magickal stones. All of these stones tend to be readily available, as well as reasonably priced.

Amber: All-healing, grounding, balance, protection, cleansing, purification

Amethyst: Very strong all-purpose stone. Divination,
intuition, spiritual awareness, gentle protection, prosperity and abundance, meditation, calming.

Aquamarine: Self-expression, confidence & courage, peace, honesty, fidelity, compassion, openness, communication, sensitivity, tolerance. Very good for situations requiring closure.

Aventurine: Creativity, motivation, leadership, healing,
prosperity. Balances male-female energies.

Bloodstone: Stone of courage & patience

Blue Lace Agate: Peace of mind, calming, intuition,
inspiration, creativity, communication & expression.

Calcite: Increases and amplifies energy, especially with learning abilities (The student’s stone) Green calcite – mental healing; Orange calcite – balances emotions.

Carnelian: Self esteem, courage, confidence, motivation,
grounding.

Citrine: The merchant’s stone. Prosperity, success, abundance,
money, energizes and attracts wealth.

Clear Quartz: Considered by many to be the best all-purpose
stone & the most powerful healing crystal. Meditation,
attunement, alignment, and an energy amplifier. When paired
with any other stone it magnifies and boosts that stone’s
intention.

Flourite: Intuition, creativity, and cleansing. Green –
cleansing; Purple – intuition & psychic development.

Hematite: Protection & grounding, dissolves negative energy.
Herkimer Diamond Attunement, creativity, clairvoyance.

Howlite: Awareness, calming, emotional expression,
observation, patience, eliminating negativity, reduces insomnia.

Jade: Prosperity & abundance, wisdom, purity & serenity.
Jasper The supreme nurturer, protection, enhances emotional
balance.

Lapis Lazuli: Courage, strength, wisdom, justice,
communication.

Moonstone: The stone of the Goddess, new beginnings,
emotions, feminine energies, sensitivity, intuition, and psychic
abilities.

Moss Agate: Prosperity, abundance & success. Often called the
gardener’s stone or the midwives’ stone as it is related to births, new beginnings, and growth.

Rose Quartz: The ultimate stone of unconditional love and
infinite peace. Soothing & strengthening

Selenite: Angelic consciousness, higher guidance, deep peace,
past life exploration, ethereal, meditation, spiritual work with grounding, anchoring & protection.

Smoky Quartz: absorbs and transmutes negative energies,
releasing positive energies in their place. Grounding, protection from nightmares

Sodalite: Excellent for working in groups, truth, wisdom, logic, intuition, communication.

Tiger’s Eye: Considered lucky, promotes focus & integrity,
protection, enhances psychic abilities.

Turquoise: Most efficient healer, great wisdom, creativity,
intuition, purification, communication, protection, meditation

Crystals” by Melody is the quintessential guide to the magical
properties of crystals. “The Crystal Bible - A Definitive Guide
to Crystals” by Judy Hall features over 200 crystals, with full
color photographs of the stones in raw, tumbled, polished and
faceted states.
